KDE4 Display settings are lost after logout

When using KDE to set your Display settings, ... , after logging out ... , the settings you indicated are lost. The settings you chose aren't 'retained'. Bug 183143

That is a nuisance. Most people have resigned to various workarounds. But it is still a nuisance. It is one of the first things someone would notice stinking up their shiny new system.

I proposed a patch to fix it. I plan to try it on KDE-4.4.3 when it arrives, because I doubt they will fix it.
